The Client: N.B. Handy Company is one of the country’s leading distributors of high-quality HVAC equipment and supplies, commercial roofing products, sheet metal and sheet metal fabricating machinery. The company was founded in 1891 in Lynchburg, VA by Nathan B. Handy. Today, operations include 17 branches strategically located throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern US offering 15,000 SKU’s from more than 250 major vendors.
Client Need: N.B. Handy needed to establish the infrastructure to accommodate accelerated growth. This included implementing an integrated ERP system to facilitate all aspects of the business operations on one system and provide employees with easy to use tools. Throughout the personnel training curve, customer service levels had to remain at 99%+.
Solutions: Working with N.B. Handy’s management team, Mincron established an aggressive implementation plan that included training of all personnel and conversion of historical data. Mincron’s total solution included thirteen integrated ERP modules, a Web Commerce module, and EDI capabilities. The Web Commerce application allows N.B. Handy’s customers access to their accounts in a secure environment, thereby increasing overall customer satisfaction. Customers can place orders, check product prices and availability, review and pay invoices via the internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week. EDI capabilities were implemented to electronically process transactions with vendors. Again saving time, eliminating errors, and increasing efficiency of personnel.
Results: N.B. Handy experienced significant growth while enhancing their financial performance. Mincron’s fully integrated web-enabled ERP solution provided the backbone for information reporting. Business decisions based upon factual real time “snapshots” increased sales.
