Bardon Supplies Limited

The Client:  Bardon Supplies was established in Belleville in 1969.The original company with eight branches was expanded with the acquisitions of Peninsula Plumbing and Heating Supplies Limited in the spring of 2000 and Doris Metals Inc. in the spring of 2001. Groupe Deschenes acquired the Company in June of 2005, bringing the total number of branch locations in the network to sixty-nine in Ontario and Quebec.

Bardon Supplies has invested heavily in the most modern computer software systems available to wholesale distributors. They provide Web Commerce capabilities to all customers and E.D.I. [electronic data interchange] with major industrial, institutional and commercial customers and suppliers. Their commitment to new technologies including Warehouse Management has been a significant factor in their successful expansion.

Client Need:   Bardon’s mission was to utilize technology to manage inventory and grow their business by offering more services to their customers like Web Commerce. Centralized purchasing was critical to achieve maximum buying power and reduce freight charges. Bardon needed a system that would produce recommended order reports based upon lead times, product usage, and safety stock at all locations.
 
Solutions:   Mincron’s Warehouse Management Solution provided Bardon Supplies with accurate inventory tracking for better space allocation, improved productivity, and eliminated human errors. Precise picking and put-away operations increased customer satisfaction by shipping products on-time and error free. Utilization of Barcode labels and RF devices increased productivity and limited mistakes.
 
Margins were increased by utilizing key features in Mincron’s ERP solution pertaining to inventory management, pricing of products, and purchasing. By reducing slow moving items and dead stock, Bardon Supplies increased their profitability. Operating expenses were reduced by implementing EDI transactions with customers and vendors. Less paperwork increased employee’s productivity. Allowing customers to place orders, check stock availability, review pricing, and view invoices on-line in a secure environment, increased customer service levels. 

Results:   Bardon Supplies Limited tripled in size after utilizing Mincron’s ERP solution for wholesale distributors and Warehouse Management.
