Geary Pacific Supply

The Client:  Geary Pacific has been in business since 1961. Their founder, Pat Geary, went to work in the sheet metal industry as an apprentice and soon got involved in the heating and air conditioning end of the business. By 1961, he and his cousin Charlie went into business together by renting a 2800 square foot lemon & orange packing house, they had two product lines and one delivery truck.

Geary Pacific has come a long way since then. Today, Geary Pacific has 16 locations spread over five states to serve their customers. February 2009 marked their 48th year in the HVAC Wholesale Distribution Business. They are proud to be a family owned business with the second generation firmly committed to carrying on the tradition of service excellence.

Client Need:  One of Geary Pacific’s core beliefs is that a key element to providing exceptional customer service is to be able to quickly and accurately answer your customer’s questions. In order to do this you must first have very accurate inventory information. Geary Pacific was determined to utilize technology to manage their inventory information as a tool to improve customer service and grow their business. Geary Pacific also wanted an accurate, easy to use, bar code scanning system capable of tracking product by serial number from the factory to the contractor. Geary Pacific considers serial number tracking a key part of their customer service capability. It’s just one more part of being able to answer their customers questions quickly and accurately. Most ERP systems philosophy on serial number tracking is that you only need to record the serial number after you sell the product and that didn’t sit well with Geary pacific.
Solutions:   Mincron’s Distribution Management and Warehouse Assistant solutions provide Geary Pacific with accurate inventory tracking for improved accuracy and productivity through elimination of human errors. The use of bar code scanning and tracking of serialized items increased customer satisfaction by picking and shipping products without errors. “The bar code scanning system is easy and accurate for receiving inventory by serial number, picking orders, and cycle counting allowing for very accurate inventory,” says Layne Miller, VP for Geary Pacific.  “The ‘RGA’ feature for handling customer returns allows us to be very quick and accurate for our customers.
